Art: there is no other survival after Death
than this. Look out of a window, what
you see is what you think, yet there is no way
to see just how exactly the sun and the birds
connect. It is this. First and last voice
you hear before you leave for other lands,
if you're wanting to hang around just to save
face, get a life. God's in the breeze,
coming through the soiled screens,
lifting papers blowing around sand,
the lost weekend traffic goes where
it must. You would have been much
better off wishing upon a star,
gave away your money and sold the car.

They had the benefit of silence without
consequences and were bound on either side
only by haunted lakes, they kept close
to home some method to record,
and to themselves, or in polite conversation
an odd glamour, breaking from the horizon,
swept through industrial parks under the
obvious
weather: obvious to everyone but they
Never mentioned it, electing instead to empty
their glasses held with pale fingers arrayed
along fragile stems in a manner only they
could understand and set themselves apart
and spinning their yarns for hearts
yet unborn, and yet still unspoken for.
