Bio: Henna Artist, Middle Eastern Dance and Drumming

Henna is one of the earliest forms of body art and dates back
to the Bronze Age. The henna plant produces a natural dye
which made into a paste dyes the skin.  I learned how to do
henna body art 10 years ago and have expanded my work to
include decorating candles and natural dyed boxes. The
boxes are dyed with turmeric, paprika, indigo, black walnut
and henna which all produce rich colors the natural way.
The style of henna I create is based on traditional North
African patterns. Many of these patterns are taken from
textiles, ceramics and traditional North African body
adornments.

I have worked in the cultural arts for the last 5 years. Some of
my experience includes working as a Program Specialist at
the Beaches Museum & History Center as well as the Project
Listen Coordinator for Riverside Fine Arts Association. In the
past I have also created henna body art at many Renaisance
Faires, Music Festivals and Cultural Events.

If you need more info please let me know. I will send a few
photos of me and some of my work. For some reason I'm not
able to attach them in this email. If you do not get them
please let me know. Feel free to use them on the website or
in any promotional material.
